"Experience
Prosperity"

Prosperity is a quaint family community with about 1100 residents. We are
located in southern Newberry County, about 7 miles from the
large recreational Lake Murray, which has about a 500-mile
shoreline.
The Town government has
just moved into a newly renovated 100-year old school building.
Having the Town Offices and the Police Department
located under this roof is truly an asset to the area. Upon
completion the building will also house an auditorium and a
gymnasium.
Prosperity is a Town that
is composed of numerous 100- year old homes that have been
handed down through generations. Our growing community has
several new housing developments. We have a thriving Business
District that includes banks, restaurants, antique stores,
general home supply stores, and interior design shop, furniture
stores, florist shops, hardware & building supply, auto parts,
gas stations, fitness club, beauty shops, tractor repair, meat
plant and a super grocery store. We have churches
of different denominations. Our schools and teachers are of the
highest ratings in the state. Our recreation for our youth is
known as one of the best.
Employment is good for
the Prosperity area with a large Georgia-Pacific saw mill and
plywood plant, also an International Paper plant. Two of our
newest plants are McKechnie Vehicle Components an auto parts
plant and Pioneer Frozen Foods plant which produces frozen bread
products.
Prosperity is the type of
Town that when you walk down a street or go into a store you are
called by name and are asked about your family. We are a proud
community and proud of our heritage. Visitors and newcomers will
always find you are welcome here.
The Prosperity Business Association
hosts an annual event “The Shoppers
Walk” the first Saturday in December. Everyone comes for the
hospitality shown with refreshments, entertainment, shopping,
and drawings for gifts and visits with Santa Clause. The
Prosperity Christmas Parade, held the first Sunday in
December, is second to none in the county. The third
weekend in August is reserved for The Prosperity’s Hoppin’ Festival.
With so much going on in
Prosperity we would love to have you visit or stay and make
it your home too.
While you are visiting our website
please take time to view all our virtual town.
